15 Mar YouTube for Your Business – Are You Using It Correctly?
You Tube states in their Creator Playbook, “This resource should be a guide for how to think strategically about the content you make and where to focus your optimization efforts.” They have created this amazing document to offer tips, best practices and strategies on how best to promote your business through You Tube. There are very few social networks that will layout a step by step program on how best to utilize their network to promote your business. It is amazingly thorough and LONG! The Creator Playbook is 92 pages. This document is worth your time, however, and here are 4 reasons YouTube for your business can really help! 1. Call To Action Overlays If you aren’t already using these in your videos you need to add them now! YouTube makes this very easy to add and discusses it’s value in depth through out both playbooks. It is simply a banner that sits in the lower third of your video. You can control the text, image, and link that it will forward people too. To set it up follow this tutorial by Social Media Examiner, who is also a great resource! 3. Annotations These are similar to Call To Action Overlays except they are clickable text overlays that exist within your video, rather than a banner at the bottom. You can ask viewers to subscribe to your channel, like a video, direct them to similar content, or even help them navigate within the video itself. The possibilities of YouTube for your business are endless, see page 37 in the Creator Playbook. 3. Playlists Playlists make it easier for your visitors to enjoy your channel and also can increase watch time. They allow you to organize your videos within your channel so that you can link to a category of videos through Call to Actions and Annotations. You can also use playlists to display curated content from other YouTube users. If you have a limited number of videos, you can use curated content to add more value to your channel. See page 16 in the Creator Playbook. 4. Metadata This word often makes people fall asleep. It’s boring. We would all rather just copy/paste our title into all the fields and move on. However, the Creator Playbook quickly lays out why you shouldn’t do that. It all gives great tips on how to write compelling and optimized metadata descriptions and titles. After all YouTube is the world’s second largest search engine and you want to make it easy for viewers to find your videos! 5. Inspiration As you read through the playbook it provides many examples of captivating content. It also gives great production tips like remembering to use different camera angles and using transitions between graphics to increase watch time to name a few. YouTube is no longer a place to store videos. It is a dynamic social networking tool that can be used to educate and entertain your audience while building brand awareness. The Creator Playbook also contains a section on YouTube analytics showing you how to examine your channel traffic as well as many other helpful sections.
